The Mullins Team Realty Group

JANUARY 2022

We’ve all heard the saying, “when one door closes, another one opens.” While this saying may be considered cliche to some, it has become a common phrase because it rings true with many. It is this very concept that launched Lisa Mullins, founder of The Mullins Team Realty Group, into a successful real estate career.

WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER ONE OPENS

Before real estate, Lisa worked as a legal assistant for 15 years. She spent her first 10 years in the industry working in law firms and the next five years at a loan servicing company. Her time with the company came to an end sooner than expected after an announcement was made that the company had been sold and was moving to North Carolina.

At this moment, for better or for worse, Lisa was no longer employed or defined by a job description. Although this door had closed unexpectedly, she soon realized that there was a new door up ahead … and it appeared to be open.

TAKING A CHANCE

“I decided that it was time for me to do something I had always wanted,” Lisa told us. Lisa received her real estate license in December of 2001 and had joined the Tulsa board by January of 2002. “Real estate was something I had always wanted to do, but I needed the push to start a career on my own.”

Before long, she knew that, if she wanted to be successful in real estate, she would need someone to share the growing responsibilities with, but she also knew that not just anyone could fill this role. “I realized that I would need somebody that was like me in belief and shared the same work ethic,” she reflected. After a long and tedious search for the right person, Lisa welcomed her very first team member.

This new dynamic propelled her career upward. In 2007, she welcomed her third team member, Kari Brown, who is still with her today and, a year later, formed their legal partnership. “Although my first team member left us in 2011 to move to another state, Kari and I chose to carry on the partnership with just the two of us,” she said.

EXPANSION

As Lisa and Kari have navigated the joys and challenges of leading a team, they have together worked to focus on their roles as listing agents, focusing on the needs of their sellers. “Over the years, we have had as many as three buyers’ specialists at a time. We felt that this was important in order to help with buyer leads and to grow that side of our business,” Lisa told us.

As they’ve expanded, their team has continued to feel like family, a model that has kept them on a successful trajectory. “We are always available to assist with any issues they may have and provide training when needed,” Lisa said. “The success of our team is reflected in the communities that we have been able to shape. We’ve sold hundreds of homes and have been able to flex our business growth around many challenges over the last 17 years.” The Mullins Team believes that their success shows in their longstanding presence and reputation in the industry, and they take pride in making sure that all of their buyers and sellers and successful as well.

After many years of continued growth and a rooted presence in the industry, Lisa had been dreaming of opening her own brokerage. “We finally decided to begin that venture in March of 2021,” she said. “The Mullins Team Realty Group.”

“My goal from the beginning was to always make sure that the sellers received honest representation and walked away with a good experience,” Lisa said.
