From Serving his Country to Serving his Community
Before becoming a local business owner, Ty Patterson spent eight years in the US Air Force. He began as an Avionics Technician on the Sentry E-3 AWACS and worked his way up to become a Unit Deployment Manager. During this time, Ty deployed to the Middle East twice and learned a great deal about commitment, integrity, and leadership.
During his time in the Air Force, Ty also took his first shot at being a business owner. He founded Oklahoma Moon Bounce in 2014, turning his passion for family into a bonafide business. In the decade that Ty ran Oklahoma Moon Bounce, he grew the company's inventory from 3 to 40 inflatables. He also discovered how much he enjoyed owning a local business. So when he seperated from the Air Force in 2017, he wondered what new business opportunity he could take on.
After careful consideration, Ty decided to found a roofing company. Roofing checked all the boxes for him; he could use his business skills, leverage his love for connecting with others, and serve his community.
“I considered other types of business, but this seemed like the perfect fit,” Ty reflects. “So in 2017, we founded American Capital Roofing & Construction.”
Taking Flight
As a business owner, Ty applied the same values he honed during his time in the military. Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do became his motto as an Airman and a business owner.
“I took those values with me into business and life,” Ty says. “In roofing, we have to be honest with people. We get up on the roof, and we tell people the truth. We don’t pressure anyone into anything that’s not good for them. I treat each customer as if they were a family member. The integrity I got from the Air Force has inspired me to run the roofing company the way I do.”
Ty prides his company on using the best materials and top-of-the-line crews. American Capital Roofing & Construction serves the Tulsa and Oklahoma City markets.
Much of American Capital Roofing & Construction’s business is driven by relationships with real estate agents. Ty and his company encourage agents to invite them out for a roof inspection early in the buying or selling process so they can take care of any issues well before closing day approaches. American Capital Roofing & Construction also accepts payment for roof repairs and replacements at closing, if needed.
“We want to make our agents look as best as we can. We'll never lead someone in the wrong direction,” Ty explains. “We just want to do things the right way and treat people the right way.”
Beyond Roofing
Ty is proud of the work he’s done to build and grow American Capital Roofing & Construction. Yet, he’s most proud of his role as a husband and father. Ty and his wife, Rebecca, have four children: TJ (12), Wyatt (11), Ryder (7), and Hazel (5). Their days are filled with running the kids to different sporting events, traveling, and staying involved in their church. There is never a dull moment in the Patterson household, and Ty loves every minute of it.
“More than anything, I want people to know that I’m a family-oriented and faith-oriented person. I'm reliable, consistent, and trustworthy. That’s how I want others to know me.”
Military Connections
Ty was moved to join the Air Force by the experience of his grandfather, who spent two decades in the Air Force. “He was a Master Sergeant and served in Vietnam, and he was the one who inspired me to join the military,” Ty shares.
