Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS® (GTAR)

What is GTAR?

The Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS® (GTAR) is dedicated to empowering its members to achieve business success through ethical and professional practices.

"Our mission is to advocate for private property rights, serve as the authoritative 'Voice for Real Estate in the Greater Tulsa Region,' and uphold the NAR Core Standards," Cindy shared.

GTAR's vision is to be the premier source of real estate information and services for its members. "We aim to foster a spirit of cooperation and unity, support our members' success, and enhance their ability to serve the public effectively. We are committed," Cindy continued, "to providing valuable services and products that benefit all members, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and are lucky to have a professional staff responsive to our members' needs."

President of the Board of Directors: Cindy Rodgers

As President of the Board of Directors, Cindy Rodgers is the Chief Elected Officer of the organization. She presides over all meetings of the corporation and the Board of Directors. She is also an ex-officio member of all GTAR committees and tries her best to attend those meetings and events as needed and, of course, as time allows. In addition to these roles, she is the spokesperson for the association, she presides over the annual meeting, and works closely with many staff members.

On the personal side of things, Cindy is a second generation REALTOR®. "My mom worked for builder, Bill Childress, in the 1980’s... long before cell phones and the internet. We lived in one of the neighborhoods that Mr. Childress developed and some of my moms clients became our neighbors and lifelong friends. I use to answer the phone and take messages from her clients," Cindy shared. "I flipped through her MLS book occasionally. I think on some level I always knew I would become a REALTOR®."

Cindy graduated from Broken Arrow High School and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. "I taught special education for almost 10 years. After a short stint in corporate America in a sale support role, I became a REALTOR®. That was almost 20 years ago and I have never looked back. I always jokingly say that I love my job 99% of the time, and that is not a bad statistic...and it’s almost always true."

Cindy has been married to her husband, Dan, for 26 years. Together they have two boys: Taylor (31) and Austin (23). They have 4 dogs: Storm, Abbey, Blue, and Josie.

What YOU Should Know about GTAR

"I think there are three keys things I would like our members to understand," Cindy said.

1) "There is so much more to GTAR than a place to pay a bill, to get a key box, or a sign. We have wonderful educational opportunities. We have networking events where you can get to know other REALTORS® and share ideas and knowledge. We have various events and places you can go to gain the skills and knowledge to best serve the communities you live and work in.

We have an incredible staff. Get to know the staff....you have no idea how hard they work and what all they are doing on a daily basis to support our members until you see it firsthand!"

2) "Those of us who are volunteering our time and serving, whether on the Board or a committee, are dedicated to doing what is best for our members... and we value their input. As you know, there have been a lot of changes recently, and more are coming. We have spent countless hours working to ensure that the transition we make to this new way of doing things is not only the least disruptive that it can be, but that our members have the best information and tools to move forward and continue to best serve their clients as possible."

3)  "Please get involved. I think we have an obligation to give back to our industry – and there is no better way to do that than getting involved at GTAR. Your voice and input is imperative to our continued success and growth, and we are truly better together. You will gain far more than you give. I would not be the REALTOR®, nor the person, I am today if I had not taken on the various roles I have over the lifetime of my career."

How YOU Can Get Involved in RPAC

"We are not red or blue – we are purple. As a purple party, we support the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and other political fundraising groups are the key to protecting and promoting the real estate industry, which keeps flood insurance, allows our VA Buyers to pay for representation, allows us to write off mortgage interest on our taxes... just to name a few. Reach out to Shelby Karamoko, GTAR’s Government Affairs Director, to make your investment or get involved.

Personally, I would encourage everyone to make their fair share annual investment of $20. Better yet, invest $99 annually and be on the RPAC committee the following year. Let your voice be heard regarding who to support! Even better, be a major investor, which is a $1000 annual investment and goes up from there."
